Is it better to use a dynamic or condenser mic? And then: must it be positioned on a perpendicular or transverse axis according to the amplifier cone? Is a hardware system better or a software emulation? These are just a few of the many questions that the engineer has always asked himself about the microphone recording of a guitar amp.

Even more so if you consider that modern virtual guitar amp emulators are of an amazing quality and are well suited to partially replace the physical ones (those used in the video are somewhat affected by the initial development of this technology. Ed).

In this fourth video you can see some solutions dedicated to the recording of the electric guitar.

The solutions proposed by Pasquale Faggiano, sound engineer of the Recoa Studio, e Carlo Fimiani, already known in the previous videos, give a clear idea of how to operate. They are certainly not the only and only solutions that can be adopted. Certainly, however, as always for this type of educational purpose, you will find excellent ideas to be able to experiment on your own. Because, in the end, the goal of the Video Courses is not to serve you the beautiful and ready dish, but to give you the correct ingredients to be able to face, calmly and according to your personal taste, all the variables that your equipment lets get.

Last and "pedantic" remark: we recommend listening with speakers or, better still, suitable headphones.

Good vision!
