Theremin: the first electronic instrument in history.

In the midst of the Russian civil war, in 1919, a young engineer, Lev Sergeevich Termen, invented what is now recognized as the first electronic synthesizer of history, the Theremin.
Working with the electromagnetic waves in the laboratory he managed to find a way to govern the rustle of interference.
Already graduated in cello, he sensed the possibilities of what became a new and revolutionary electronic instrument, in fact the first synthesizer that history remembers.
It is a musical instrument with two antennas, one for the volume and one for identifying the note.
Its main feature is that the performer does not need to touch it to perform their performance.
The musician's body and his hands are part of the instrument. By increasing or decreasing the distance from the antennas, a characteristic sound is obtained that goes from the tone of a cello to that of the human whistle.
The instrument began to spread thanks to performers such as Clara Rockmore (Lithuanian, graduated in violin in St. Petersburg and then moved to America), who used it in shows throughout the United States, and to a television use that in the 50s included the Theremin among the special effects of terror movie and in some cartoons including Scooby Doo.
Theremin also landed in pop with i Beach Boys.Fabio Pesce, computer engineer and musician, mainly plays the theremin (Moog Epro).
