Labradford - Labradford

In 1993 the Labradfords, a Richmond duo made up of Carter Brown and Mark Nelson, in their approach to the rediscovery of analogue sound, gave to the press, for Kranky, the first complete record work: Prazision, a miscellany of neo-psychedelic, environmental music and industrial.

Three years later, in 1996, with the addition of Bobby Women, the Labradfords publish a small masterpiece of the same name, capable of combining the retro charm of Herb seventies with the new and contemporary musical language of his time.

And so, the original sound of Precision, with his wandering ghosts through desolate post-industrial landscapes, in Labradford he assumes a slow rhythmic and deep pace, saturating the atmosphere with warm tension; also thanks to the voice that becomes a subdued missal from catatonic spirituality.

The instrumental "Phantom Channel Crossing“, With his metallic dragging of chains, he introduces the record and the listening up to lead it towards the splendid Midrange, with his violin and his voice that is realized in the other immortal lullaby from the tormented subconscious that is Pico.

A follow Cipher, asphyxiating atomic wind, black hole on whose horizon of events rotates the cadenced, solemn and "noise" Lake Speed, a piece full of classical avant-garde and contemporary minimalism in which the voice lets itself be laid by harmonic progressions and disturbed by sound interference .

With scenic recovery (if possible) you live in an even more claustrophobic and dark world populated by rhythmic patterns of bass and percussion, dissonant violins, guitar twang and a viola complained. The voice becomes imperceptible and whispered as in an autistic prayer.

Closes the disc Battered, noir ballad with strokes and voids full of density, a piece that, in its wavy final opening, dismisses a perfect work - in its uniqueness.
