Novation presents MiniNova, a powerful and compact synthesizer that introduces features never before implemented in a device of this price range, among which the 'Animate' controls and the brand new Novation VocalTuneT vocal effect stand out.
The Nova range of synthesizers has been around since the mid-90s, but the MiniNova has a sound identity that feels decidedly more 70s-esque. The MiniNova's synthesis engine was developed by synth-design legend Chris Huggett, who had previously created some milestones such as the Bass Station, Supernova, Nova e UltraNovaHuggett has decades of experience with a rich track record of successful projects, including true classics such as the 1978 EDP Wasp and the OSC OSCar. Thanks to this experience in analog synthesis, Huggett was able to apply the sound design principles he acquired to the development of the brand new MiniNova, taking Novation's new synth a step above many other synthesizers currently on the market.
MiniNova was created having as a rich starting point the synthesis engine of UltraNova, the flagship product of the Novation brand. With three oscillators, two filters, six envelopes, three LFOs and 36 different wavetables available, MiniNova is able to create a wide range of high-impact sounds suitable for any genre and style of music.
Patch selection is simplified by a comfortable and functional knob and a very intuitive scroll wheel, which together allow you to search and recall the 256 ready-made patches, plus any other 128. MiniNova is ideal for those looking for of a synthesizer with many effective sounds that are easy to recall instantly: just choose the desired sound and then adapt the patch to the track with the various possible modulations. A parametric matrix allows you to have 24 powerful tools to shape the sound via four touch-sensitive knobs. Another dedicated knob for the filter cutoff allows you to give an additional powerful modulation to your sound.
Among the main new features implemented, MiniNova introduces VocalTune, an extraordinary effect capable of varying the pitch of the voice adapting it to the note played on the synth, all in real time. The new Novation synth also features a powerful new vocoder engine, which can be used via the included microphone or via an external input signal. Another great new feature is the 'Animate' buttons that allow you to apply up to eight extremely expressive modulations, with a special hold button to close one or more modulations / animations from time to time. The 'Arpeggiate' mode then allows you to play and program the rhythmic parts with extreme simplicity, with the possibility of making variations 'on the fly'. Finally, the connection to the computer via USB allows a simple management of the patch library through a special free software plug-in.
MiniNova comes with two quarter-inch mono jack outputs, a stereo headphone output, full-size jack and XLR inputs for routing through on-board vocoders and effects, MIDI in and out, and an input for the sustain pedal. The power supply can be supplied via USB or through a dedicated 9V DC power supply (included).
