How important is the contribution of a persuasive female voice in the creative process that leads to the production of a musical work? Certainly many of you will answer that it is an essential contribution, and indeed in some musical genres it is an absolutely decisive aspect. This Kontakt Library, signed Auddict, leads us into the mysterious realm of ethnic female voices… Will we be hypnotized by it like Ulysses with the sirens? Let's find out together in our new review.

Ceres - Celestial Voices is a Vocal Contact Library developed by the English Software House Audit, a company engaged in the creation of Sample Libraries, especially intended for use in the audio post-production of Film, Tv e Videogames.
In fact, their catalog includes several titles dedicated to orchestral instruments and cinematic percussion.

Ceres is their proposal on the subject of Vocal Sample Libraries. It is composed of both a complete Kontakt Instrument already mapped on its Midi controller, and a large number of individual Samples available in the classic format WAV.
The library requires the Contact Player 4 as a minimum version to be able to run in your Daw. Takes up hard drive space of 3 GB, which become 4 once the files have been extracted.

KIND OF THE LIBRARY

Ceres is the first library in Auddict's Celestial Voices series. The performer who lends her precious vocal cords in this work is Tanya wells, an interpreter who boasts prestigious cameos and collaborations; just to name a few: chorister for Anoushka Shankar at the opening of Joss Stone at the Cannès Festival, as well as the recording of the voices for the music of the 2014 film “Hercules”.
The series in question aims to crystallize into a VST Instruments all the expressive and dynamic range of voices from the most varied ethnic backgrounds.
In this title, in particular, the voice of Tanya, who trained and perfected her style and her vocal technique in India, gives Ceres a stylistic figure particularly linked to the traditions of the Asian Subcontinent, giving rise to a very varied and varied sound universe. with a strongly exotic and spiritual flavor.

CONTENT OVERVIEW

With its more than 4 GB of content, Ceres guarantees a decidedly long-lasting playability and a respectable arsenal of sounds.
Loading the library into your own Daw by choice, we will have both a Kontakt Instrument and a few hundred WAV Samples at our disposal.
Being a library created specifically for Kontakt, Ceres offers maximum performance if used through the appropriate Instrument.
The work that the Auddict team has done in condensing all the expressive potential and all the distinctive features of the library into a single Kontakt Instrument is truly meritorious. This type of configuration guarantees an extremely fluid workflow and stimulates creativity even work in progress.

The powerful engine that drives Ceres

For less articulated needs, it will also be possible to adequately use WAV samples, but giving up the power and practicality of the Ceres Kontakt Instrument is really difficult: using the various components available in the library in various combinations, it will not be complicated to quickly create complex vocal textures. , rich in harmonizations and suggestive melodic themes.

TECHNICAL AND AESTHETIC ANALYSIS OF THE CONTENTS

Let's start with the voice of Tanya Wells. The timbre is decidedly original, rich in tonal nuances and colors that are always different in the various registers. In the range middle finger high and above all high the interpreter excels: the voice is crystalline and limpid. I dare to say truly heavenly. However, Tanya manages to maintain very convincing support even as she ventures into the mid and mid to low registers.
The sound quality is hand in hand with the remarkable stylistic caliber of the performer: the recording is clean and the shooting technique always up to par.
We now come to the technical and aesthetic heart of the title, reviewing the joints and controls available.
On the left side of the interface, we find the box dedicated to Phrase shaper. In this section we can literally sculpt Tanya's singing evolutions. We can effectively render vocalizations in 4 several syllables (Ah, Ooh, eeh, mmm), select two types of Legato (Normal Bound, Portamento) and decide how to characterize the dynamics of the vocal part through ben 6 options (Sustain, Mordent, Up Bend, Down Bend, Turn, Crescendo). All adjustments are very responsive and precise. Just below we can set the spread and speed of the Vibrato and the desired amount of reverb.

Moving to the upper right of the Gui, we have access to the rich sector of the joints:

Whispers. Very atmospheric whispers and sighs.
Ornaments. Acciaccature, supports, cadences, blooms and embellishments in general. State-of-the-art expressiveness.
Phrases. Various melodic sequences that alone are enough to appreciate the library.
Long Swells e Short Swells. Very evocative choirs, respectively with a lot and little support.
In addition, to this abundance is added an additional compartment, in the lower part of the work panel, which houses three further adjustments useful for setting the intensity, presence and frequency values of the vocal performance to your liking.

RECOMMENDED USES AND DESTINATIONS

There is no doubt that Ceres can find its most appropriate location if used to compose soundtracks and music with a distinctly atmospheric trait: genres such as Ambient, ethno, African e World Music (especially if of Celtic or Indo-European derivation) will certainly benefit from the almost mystical frescoes that the bookshop is able to produce. The fact remains that the title can also be profitably used in works by Electronics e Trip hop; however, I would be inclined to exclude its use when dealing with Pop, Rock e Jazz. For these genres, the library is definitely off the stylistic target.

PROJECTED IMPACT

There are many voice libraries out there, so it's not easy to package a product that knows how to rise above the average.
Basically, for the richness of contents, quality and completeness, Ceres can certainly carve out a fair amount of space.
Although it is a library of the Celestial Voices series, here we are not on the Olympus of vocal Sample Libraries, but, also considering the honest price and stylistic originality, I would say that it can fit in Eden Ceres.
