Boss, historical brand of Roland that has been producing pedals and effects for guitar since 1976, presents the new WAZA CRAFT series with which the Japanese designers intend to offer guitarists a higher quality level than the standard series, using meticulously selected analog components, circuits refined and attention to the smallest details.
To confirm the fact, the word "Waza" can be translated with the expression "art applied to technique". The Waza Craft symbol affixed to all pedals distinguishes these products with a high level of sound quality. The series includes three pedals: the Delay DM-2W, Super Overdrive SD-1W and Blues Driver BD-2W.
DM-2W analog delay
Il DM-2W reintroduces the old version DM-2 revised and corrected. A very popular analog delay in its day, which was produced until 1984 and which Boss now proposes with some small but substantial improvements. The look is practically that of the original, with three knobs for control Repeat/Rate which adjusts the amount of repetitions of the delay effect, the Echo control which adjusts the delay time and the control Intensity which adjusts the relationship between clean sound and effect. The addition of a switch allows you to switch from standard mode, a perfect replica of the original with the delay time between 20 and of 300 ms with a warm and deep sound, to the custom one that brings the delay time a 600ms and makes the sound brighter. Very interesting are the possibility of double output which allows to have the direct and effected sound output at the same time and the possibility of connecting an expression pedal in order to control the delay time in real time.
SD-1W Super Overdrive
The SD-1W is the replica of another pedal that made Boss history, the Super Overdrive. A typical overdrive of a tube amplifier, warm and soft, characterized by a non-extreme effect that has a vocation perhaps more as a booster than as a pure overdrive, which in the Waza Craft version expands its capabilities and its tonal quality thanks to the completely analog circuit. The pedal has three knobs, the Level which adjusts the volume of the effect, the Tone which adjusts the brightness of the sound and the Drive which adjusts the amount of overdrive saturation. It also has a switch that allows you to choose between the Standard mode, which reproduces the classic sound of the SD-1, and the Custom mode, which offers new tones rich in nuances and with greater gain, meeting the needs of guitarists who demand a more overdrive. aggressive and modern.
BD-2W Blues Driver
Il BD-2W, is the Waza Craft reinterpretation of the pedal BD-2 Blues Drivers which is an overdrive with a bluesy vocation when using a moderate gain and becomes a rock distortion when you push the gain, always maintaining a good dynamic expression typical of the best tube amps. The Waza Craft version, paying the utmost attention to the definition of the sound, enriches the already good qualities of the original pedal bringing it to a level of excellence thanks to the completely analog circuit. It allows you to switch between the Standard mode which reproduces the classic sound of the BD-2 and the Custom mode which offers new sounds even richer in sustain and definition.
