AudioThing – Soundscapes Vol.1
In addition to the library for Kontakt of a glockenspiel sampled with ping pong balls, AudioThing churns out a new library, completely dedicated to Soundscape, any kind of ethereal/pad/atmospheric sounds: Soundscapes Vol.1
Soundscapes Vol.1 is a collection of instruments for Kontakt 3.5 (or higher) of sound textures, ambient/pad and ethereal sounds. Any single samples can be loaded directly without having to load any instrument within Kontakt, since any sample is an individual loop.
Any sample (and any related instruments) is grouped in two categories: concrete and gear. The first one, concrete (term coming from concrete music), contains all of the samples which have been recorded from “natural” sources, and all over Europe, more precisely in Paris, Dublin, London and Naples. Instead, gear, the second one, includes all of those sounds which have been generated by using electronic devices such as synthesizers, hardware effects and all kinds of electronic sound objects. Among the variety of hardware instruments involved, two stand out particularly.
A custom eurorack modular synthesizer and a Thingamagoop 2 by Bleep Labs.
The manual includes a sound/instrument full list with related details as follows:
It is possible to work on effects and on the general envelopes of the instrument directly by the Kontakt interface. In particular, it allows you to choose the amount of saturation, Rotary/Leslie effect and Reverb. Unfortunately, being those effects within Kontakt, as much as having their controls at hand can be useful, our suggestion is to use better quality external effects. The saturation effects in particular works as a light gainer/overdrive or the reverb is way lighter than the most of the default reverbs within any DAWs.
